26 Days Uganda Safari-Gorilla Trekking, Walking Safari & Chimpanzee Trek

26  Days Uganda Safari starts from Entebbe Uganda and ends in Entebbe Uganda with magic transportation in an extended safari Landcruiser with a knowledgeable English speaking guide.

Day 1: Transfer to the Hotel

Arrival and be transferred to the hotel Secrets Guesthouse Entebbe.

Day 2: Visit Mabamba Swamp

Drive to the harbour and take the boat ride across the lake with a beautiful view of Entebbe the airport, fishermen and lots of birds, especially on approaching the swamps. At Mabamba you will disembark the bigger boat and enter the smaller canoes for the Mabamba Swamps. The canoes will take a maximum of 3 persons excluding the driver and guide. Sometimes the Shoebill may also be seen from the shores in the lagoon while coming into or when returning to Entebbe. Whatever the case may be, the boat trip through the lagoon is usually very rewarding for all of its birds. Return back to Entebbe for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 3:  Transfer to Sipi Falls.

After Morning Breakfast at the lodge, you will jump in the extended Landcruiser jeep and start the adventure through Kampala city and connect to Sipi in the Elgon region, where you will visit the coffee farms for Lunch, dinner and overnight stay at Lacam Lodge.

Day 4: Morning hike to Sipi Falls and Relax at Sipi River Lodge

Have morning breakfast from the lodge (Leave the Lodge at 6:30 am) and go for a walk in Kapkwai. This walk is 5.5 Km (the shortest) and it will take you through Kobet waterfalls and the caves. You will even see the Kobet River. Return to your accommodation for Dinner and overnight stay at the Lacam Lodge.

Day 5:  Sipi –Piana Upe game reserve. 2 hours drive

Early in the morning after breakfast, you will set you to connect to Pian upe Game reserve which is the largest game reserve in Uganda that hosts the big five and offers walking safaris in the magical wildlife watching space. Dinner and overnight stay at Piana Upe bandas (Luxury Wing)

Day 6: Game drive in Piana Upe game reserve.

Do a game drive and relax as.

Day 7: Piana Upe – Transfer to Moroto.

Dinner and overnight stay will be at Karatunga bush (Luxury wing)

Day 8:Transfer to Kidepo National park via Kotido.

After breakfast, you will drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. Kidepo National Park is located in the north-eastern corner of Uganda along the international frontier with South Sudan in Kaabong District. Kidepo National Park is a home to about 86 mammal species and about 500 bird species. Have lunch on arrival. You can go for an afternoon game drive where you will spot lions, cheetah, leopard, bat-eared fox, giraffe, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal, lesser kudu, Chandlers Mountain reedbuck, klipspringer, dikdik and bright gazelle, Beisa Oryx and roan antelope among others. Dinner and overnight at Savanna lodge.

Day 9: Full day game viewing

Breakfast, go for a game drive where you will spot lions, cheetah, leopard, bat-eared fox, giraffe, striped hyena, aardwolf, caracal, lesser kudu, Chandlers Mountain reedbuck, klipspringer, dikdik and bright gazelle, Beisa Oryx and roan antelope among others. Or you can go for a community walk in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight as above.

Day 10: Walking safari in Kidepo National Park

Lunch, Dinner and overnight stay as above and transfer to Gulu Town. (Please take note that it will be a long drive since the walking safari can end at around 10-11 am and then start to drive to Gulu.) Overnight in Bakers Fort Hotel.

Day 11:  Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park

Have breakfast, and drive to Murchison Falls National Park. Murchison Falls National Park is located in Masindi district in northwestern Uganda. You may arrive in time for lunch, have lunch and later go for an afternoon game drive where the driver/guide will help you spot various species of wildlife. This may include Buffalos, elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, kobs, impalas among others. Dinner and overnight stay at Fort Murchison.

Day 12: Game drive and boat ride

After breakfast, you will go for a game drive. You might spot animals like elephants, Buffalos, Impalas, Uganda Kobs and lions. Various birds can be spotted too and they include the African skimmer, Chapins flycatcher, Pink-backed pelicans, Papyrus canary, Shoebill stork, martial eagle. Later return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will go for a boat ride where you will spot Hippos, Crocodiles, various water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Budongo Eco Lodge.

Day 13: Short Bird watching in Budongo forest

You will go for early morning birding experience in the famous Bodongo forest which is known to be the home for over 300 Species of birds alongside with Chimpanzees and after you will drive to Ziwa Rhino for afternoon tracking experience. Dinner and overnight stay Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary Guest house.

Day 14:Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to Kibale National Park. The park is about 766 km2 in size with primarily moist evergreen forest. Kibale National Park is located in the Southern part of Uganda. Kibale National Park is a home to approximately 325 species of birds which include the olive long-tailed cuckoo, Western Green tinker bird, African and Green-breasted and African Grey Parrot. It is also a home to 13 species of primates, at least 60 other species of mammals. The visits to the park are mainly paid to the endangered chimpanzees. While visiting the Chimps you can get to see other primates including the red colobus monkey and the rare L’Hoest’s monkey, Uganda Mangabey, the Ugandan Red Colobus, and the L’Hoest’s Monkey. On arrival at the lodge you will have lunch and later in the afternoon you can go for Bigodi walk depending on the arrival time in Kibale Forest national park. Dinner and overnight will be at the Kibale Forest Camp.

Day 15: Chimpanzee Habituation

Today you will go for Chimpanzee Habituation with your parked lunch as it will be a full day safari activity. This will be after you have had breakfast and after getting a briefing at the park headquarters. Safari Activity Starts at 6:20am, while tracking chimps you might spot other animals like the red and blue duikers, bush pigs, warthogs, buffalo and elephants. Various birds can also be spotted while on the trek. Dinner and overnight will be at the lodge.

Day 16: Transfer to Semuliki National Park

After breakfast you will drive to Semuliki National Park passing through Fort Portal town and proceed to reach Semuliki in the late evening. Semuliki National Park is located in the remote part of Bundibugyo district in the western part of Uganda in the Albertine Rift. The vegetation in this park is tropical rain forest and swamps. Semuliki National Park is a home to more than 400 bird species, and some of these are the Forest Ground Thrush and Sassi’s Olive Greenbul, Long-tailed Hawk, Forest Francolin, Nkulengu Rail, Western Bronze-napped Pigeon, Black-collared Lovebird, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Lemon-bellied Crombec, Brown-crowned Eremomela among others. About 60 mammal species live in this park and some of them are buffalos, leopards, hippos, Mona Monkeys, water chevrotains, bush babies, civets, elephants among others. You will have lunch and in the afternoon go for a game drive. Dinner and overnight will be at Semliki Safari Lodge.

Day 17: Half day bird watching

After breakfast, you will go for a half day bird watching activity. You might spot some birds like Forest Ground Thrush and Sassi’s Olive Greenbul, Long-tailed Hawk, Forest Francolin, Nkulengu Rail, Western Bronze-napped Pigeon, Black-collared Lovebird, Yellow-throated Cuckoo, Lemon-bellied Crombec, Brown-crowned Eremomela among others. You will get to see animals like the buffalos, leopards, hippos, Mona Monkeys, water chevrotains, bush babies, civets, elephants among others. Dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 18: Semuliki – Queen Elizabeth National park

Today after breakfast you will drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Queen Elizabeth National Park was named after Queen Elizabeth II and it was established in 1954. The park is located in western Uganda and covers an area of about 1,978 square kilometres. Within this park there is Lake Edward and Lake George and the Kazinga channel. The vegetation in the park is mostly open savannah, green meadows, semi- deciduous tropical forests, dense equatorial rain forest and dense papyrus swamps. On arrival you will have lunch, and either relax at the lodge or go for an afternoon game drive. You might spot animals like elephants, Bufalloes, Impalas, Uganda Kobs and lions. Various birds can be spotted too and they include the African skimmer, Chapins flycatcher, Pink-backed pelicans, Papyrus canary, Shoebill stork, martial eagle. Later return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay at Enganzi Lodge.

Day 19: Game drive and boat ride

After breakfast you will go for a game drive. You might spot animals like elephants, Bufalloes, Impalas, Uganda Kobs and lions. Various birds can be spotted too and they include the African skimmer, Chapins flycatcher, Pink-backed pelicans, Papyrus canary, Shoebill stork, martial eagle. Later return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch you will go for a boat ride where you will spot Hippos, Crocodiles, various water birds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 20:Tree climbing Lions Game drive in Queen Elizabeth National park.

After the morning breakfast, you will try the first attempt to search for the Tree climbing lions and later return to the lodge for lunch, later in the evening you will go again for the evening game drive searching for the Tree climbing lions for the second time. Dinner and overnight at Enganzi Lodge.

Day 21:  Transfer to Bwindi National Park.

After breakfast, you will and drive to Bwindi national park. This National Park is located in the south-western part of Uganda next to the Virunga National Park and on the edge of the Albertine Rift. Bwindi national park is a home to various animal and bird species. This includes over 214 species of birds and 120 species of mammals. Bwindi national park is well known for its endangered mountain Gorillas. Apart from the gorillas there are other animals like the ‘Hoest’s monkey, African elephant, African green broadbill, Grauer’s rush warbler, Chaplin’s flycatcher, African giant swallowtail among others. Lunch will be enroute and in the afternoon relax at the Lodge. Dinner and overnight at Haven Lodge.

Day 22:Gorilla tracking

An early morning breakfast, go for a briefing at the park headquarters, in accompaniment of guides and rangers, you enter the forest to begin the Gorilla tracking activity which takes 2-10 hours depending on the movements of these gorillas. Other animals and birds might be spotted too and these include the l’Hoest’s monkey, African elephant, birds like the African green broadbill, Grauer’s rush warbler, Chaplin’s flycatcher, African giant swallowtail among others. After tracking, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 23:  Bwindi-Lake Bunyonyi

Breakfast, drive to Lake Bunyonyi. Have lunch on arrival. In the afternoon you will go for a boat ride. Dinner and overnight at Arcadia Lodge Bunyonyi.

Day 24: Lake Bunyonyi-Lake Mburo National Park

Have breakfast and drive through Kabale in the Kigezi region, known as the Switzerland of Africa characterized by terraced cultivated hills and later connect to Lake Mburo National Park, the smallest of Ugandan National Parks. Expect a big game drive en-route as you head to Lake Mburo National Park. Take an evening game drive before sunset in search of the beautiful impalas, elands, topi and many antelopes, buffaloes, and zebras among others. Dinner and overnight at Rwaboko Lodge.

Day 25:  Boat ride on Lake Mburo and walking safari or biking in the park

After breakfast, embark on a morning boat trip on Lake Mburo.

Dinner and overnight as above.

Day 26: Lake Mburo – Entebbe.

Later proceed to Kampala with a stop at the equator for photographs, reach by afternoon then proceed to the airport for your departure flight.
