Where to go

Top locations

Uganda's national parks are not just protected areas on a map. They are the beating heart of the Pearl of Africa, a collection of wild spaces so diverse, so rich, and so extraordinary that no single safari can do them justice. From the ancient rainforests of Bwindi where mountain gorillas move through the mist, to the thundering power of Murchison Falls where the entire Nile squeezes through a seven-meter gorge, to the remote savanna of Kidepo Valley, where lions hunt plains that stretch to the South Sudan border, Uganda's parks cover every landscape, every ecosystem, and every kind of wildlife experience a traveler could dream of.

Seasons & timing

When to go

Uganda is a year-round destination; the parks are open, the wildlife is present, and the gorillas are always there. But timing your visit right means the difference between a good safari and an unforgettable one. The dry seasons — June to September and December to February — offer the best wildlife viewing, clearest skies, and most accessible trails. The green seasons bring lush landscapes, newborn wildlife, and significantly fewer crowds. Whenever you come, Uganda will have something extraordinary waiting.
