Detailed itinerary

Day 1: From Kampala or Entebbe to Kibale Forest National Park, Western Uganda

After an early morning leisurely breakfast, head to Kibale Forest about 5 to 6 hours’ drive. This journey will take you from Kampala via Mityana to Mubende to Fort Portal Tourism City. Lunch stop be made in Fort Portal Tourism City and later, check in at the lodge in Kibale Forest.

Moderate: Chimpanzee Guesthouse or in Primate Lodge

Luxury: Kyaninga Lodge, Ndali Lodge or in Papaya Lake Lodge

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest & visit Queen Elizabeth National Park

Have a leisurely cup of Ugandan tea or coffee and after, be briefed at Kanyanchu Tourist Centre. Get to understand about chimpanzee tracking rules and at 8:00am, go look for chimpanzees. On about 2 to 4 hours of chimp trek, you will also come across other primates and birds in addition to striking your imaginations with chimpanzees in the wild. Return thereafter the 1 hour with chimpanzees, have lunch and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park, 3 hours’ drive.

Day 3: Game drive or wildlife viewing & launch cruise

After breakfast, go enjoy the best of game drive in Uganda along Kasenyi plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. On your morning game drive, get a chance to see lions, buffaloes, antelopes, leopards, birds, elephants among others. After a complete 2-3 hours of game viewing, lunch be served at the lodge. At 2:00am, go enjoy an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel. On this water sport, expect to spend 2-3 hours with a chance to spot hippos, crocodiles, aquatic birds.

Day 4: Game drive to see tree climbing lions at Ishasha and drive to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, set off for yet another game viewing experience with expectations to sight the tree climbing lions at Ishasha area. You will also come across other wildlife, birds and after, drive to Volcanoes National Park in Ruhengeri.

Day 5: Gorilla trekking & connect to Kigali

You will have a delicious breakfast and after, set off for gorilla trek. This begins after briefing and once you have been allocated to a gorilla family group. Rwanda’s Volcanoes National Park consists of 10 groups but only one will be trekked by you today. Lasting for 2-6 hours, expect to spend one hour maximum with mountain gorillas once you locate them in the wild. Return to check out and be driven to Kigali.
