About the Lodge
Gorilla Mist Camp is situated along the forested hills of the Ruhija sector in Uganda's renowned Bwindi Impenetrable National Park offering mid-range accommodation that is surrounded by mist-covered mountains, lush tropical forests and breathtaking views of the Virunga Volcanoes. The rooms of the lodge are designed in traditional African safari style that blends comfortably into the natural surroundings.
The lodge is privately operated and locally owned requiring travelers to transfer for a period of 10–15 minutes by road from the Ruhija gorilla trekking briefing point. It is ideal for middle and upper class travelers interested in trekking the rare species of Mountain Gorillas in their natural forest habitat.
Ruhija is one of the four gorilla trekking sectors in Bwindi and is home to several habituated mountain gorilla families, including Oruzogo, Bitukura, and Kyaguliro. Its elevated location offers sweeping views of Bwindi Forest and, on clear days, the majestic Virunga Mountain range.
Gorilla Mist Camp offers eight spacious, self-contained cottages (bandas) designed using traditional African architecture with grass-thatched roofs and locally inspired décor. The rooms provide a comfortable retreat after a day of trekking through the rainforest.
