About the Lodge

Etosha Safari Lodge is located facing an expansive terrain landscape of mopane woodland, about 10 kilometres from the park's Andersson Gate comprising of comfortable accommodation, panoramic scenery, swimming pools, dining facilities and a distinctly relaxed safari atmosphere. The Lodge is designed as a spacious, comfortable base for exploring Etosha National Park and is elevated offering travelers a chance to watch the sun descend over the landscape in the evening from the lodge's viewing areas.

The lodge is found close to Ombika South of Etosha National Park's central entrance at Andersson Gate offering travelers a chance to explore the Park I the Mornings and evenings on Game Drive.

The landscape surrounding the lodge is characteristic of the southern Etosha region, with mopane woodland and open savannah extending toward the horizon. Because the lodge is positioned on a hill, the setting feels considerably more expansive than a conventional hotel environment.

This elevated position also shapes the experience of staying here. The lodge includes a restaurant, deck and sunset viewing areas are oriented toward the surrounding wilderness, creating opportunities to enjoy the landscape. Etosha Safari Lodge can work well as a base for exploring the southern section of Etosha while continuing onward toward destinations like Damaraland, Twyfelfontein or the Namibian coast.

Etosha Safari Lodge includes 65 bungalows comprising 60 twin rooms and five family rooms accommodating up to four people. The accommodation is deliberately spacious and uncomplicated. They feature Private verandas, Air conditioning, En-suite bathrooms with showers, Safes, Mosquito nets, Hairdryers, Coffee and tea facilities, Wi-Fi availability, Mobile connectivity.

The private verandas are especially appropriate for the setting. Instead of treating the room purely as a place to sleep, they give guests another opportunity to sit outside and absorb the surrounding landscape.

The Lodge's Architecture and Atmosphere

Etosha Safari Lodge occupies an interesting middle ground between a traditional hotel and a classic safari lodge. It is large enough to accommodate groups and families comfortably, but its individual bungalow layout prevents it from feeling like a conventional multi-storey hotel. The architecture and décor are designed to complement the Namibian environment, while the extensive decks and outdoor areas make the surrounding landscape central to the guest experience.

The lodge's size is worth considering when choosing accommodation. With 65 rooms, this is not a tiny, ultra-exclusive bush camp. Recent guest reviews frequently praise the spacious rooms, facilities and convenient location, while some travelers point out that the property can feel busy during peak periods.

After several hours on a safari vehicle or driving through Etosha, a swimming pool can be more than a luxury—it can be one of the most welcome facilities at a lodge. Etosha Safari Lodge has three cold-water swimming pools, distributed around the property.

The pools provide an easy way to spend the hottest part of the afternoon. This is particularly useful because safari schedules often revolve around the cooler morning and late-afternoon periods, leaving the middle of the day available for rest.

Dining at Etosha Safari Lodge

The main lodge includes an onsite restaurant and fully stocked bar with spacious dining and deck areas designed to take advantage of the surrounding views. Gondwana specifically highlights the lodge's outdoor dining experience, where guests can enjoy an evening meal beneath the Namibian sky.

Various safari activities can be done at the lodge and these include; game drives, wildlife viewing, drinks, dinner and sunset views before the sky becomes filled with stars.

The Sunset Experience

One of the most memorable features of Etosha Safari Lodge is its sunset viewing area. A wooden sunset deck extends into the landscape, providing a broad outlook over the mopane woodland. A normal evening can therefore include a drink on the deck as the light changes from bright African afternoon to orange, red and finally deep blue. Once darkness arrives, the surrounding environment becomes equally compelling, with the Namibian night sky providing a dramatic backdrop.

You can watch various wildlife animals while here and these include; elephants, lions, giraffes, rhinos, Zebras, Oryx, Springbok, Wildebeest, Kudu, many bird species.
