18 Days Uganda Safari Experience

Day 1 Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

You will be received by your driver/guide at the Airport. Depending on your arrival time, if you arrive at night, we check into Anderita Beach Hotel for a relaxation moment after the long flight.

Day 2 Kampala – Sezibwa falls – Mabira forest – Jinja town – Source of the Nile – Bujagali falls

After your breakfast our drive shall pick you up for the trip at 7.00am. Our first tour shall take us to eastern Uganda.

We shall make brief stopovers at Sezibwa Falls and then Mabira Forest Reserve for nature walks and birding. After these we shall drive through the tea and sugar plantations in Lugazi, the vegetation-clad hills and valleys along the Kampala-Jinja highway and arrive in what is renowned as the adventure capital of Uganda.

In Jinja we shall have our lunch after which we pay a visit to the fascinating Bujagali Falls to see the mighty white waters of the Nile gash over several undulating rocks. We shall be treated to local entertainment, watch the kayaking boys tussle it out with the Nile rapids, the birds and much more breathtaking sceneries.

From Bujagali we shall continue to the Source of the Nile where there is even more adventure activity. We shall have a boat cruise and savor the beauty along the river banks of the Nile.

After our adventures at the Source of the Nile we a tour of this former industrial capital of Uganda and later check in at Nile Porch for dinner and overnight.

Day 3 Jinja – Mbale – Sipi falls – Mt. Elgon National Park

We shall have early morning breakfast and drive to Mbale via Tirinyi road as we get treated to spectacular views of the rocky hills overlooking community villages and Mountain Elgon. We shall check in at Sipi River Lodge, have lunch and go for a trek through the rocks along the path leading to the magnificent Sipi Falls and caves. During this trek we shall pass through villages and families below Mountain Elgon and several farms. Return in the evening for an overnight at Sipi River Lodge.

Day 4 Mt. Elgon to Kidepo Valley National Park

With an early breakfast and the cold winds around, we drive towards Kitgum town for lunch. After lunch we continue to Kidepo Valley National Park which is a long bumpy/dirt road-journey and finally check into the park in the evening at Apoka Safari Lodge for an overnight.

Day 5 Game drive in Kidepo Valley National Park

After a cup of coffee/tea at the lodge, we drive through the game trails for loads of chances to see the game. Expect to see ostriches, hyenas, lions on rocks, jackals, buffalos, zebras, elephants, lots of antelopes, giraffes, and drive along river Narus to view lots of birds. We then get back to the lodge for lunch. Return for another evening/night game drive and later return to Apoka Safari lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 6 Kidepo National Park to Murchison Falls National Park

After a cup of tea/coffee, drive to Murchison Falls National Park – Uganda’s biggest Park which is over 5000sqkm.check into Global Village Guest House in Pakwach for lunch or Red Chilli’s Rest Camp for relaxation.

We shall dinner and over night at Global Village in Pakwach.

Day 7 Game drive in Murchison Falls National Park

An early cup of tea/coffee at 6:00am after which we go to the ferry crossing on the side of the park to start the game drive. We shall drive along Nile river Bank to the broad savannah for the most likelihood big cats hunting, Elephants, Giraffes, Buffalos, plus more as the checklist of mammals reaches 76 we continue browsing the drive circuits to the Delta point for a cocktail of Birds and mammals. If you are a keen birder this might be your magnet to catch them. After the game drive we shall have lunch and then go the 3 hours Boat ride to the base of Murchison Falls where you get to see the hippos grooming in there pods, Nile crocodiles, elephants quenching their thirst for the afternoon sun and a variety of beautiful bird species along the falls.

Day 8 Murchison Falls National Park to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Morning breakfast, check out of the park and drive along lake Albert, to the escarpment area for a great view of the great rift valley, continue to Hoima town for lunch at the Kolping Hotel. Continue through Mabale, kagadi towns with great views the local community, thatched houses, school kids and finally to Kyenjojo town. Please note that it is a dirt road from Murchison Falls to Kyenjonjo town. Drive 55km to Fort Portal town and continue through the tea plantations for your evening.

Check into chimps nest and relax in the tree house for the night.

Day 9 Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park

Early morning breakfast, continue to Kibaale park headquarters for a morning briefing and start the chimpanzee tracking experience. Expect to see loads of monkeys, birds and lots tree species.

Return for lunch at the chimps nest lodge.

Evening relaxation or Bigodi Nature walk with lots of monkey species.

Overnight at Chimps Nest.

Day 10 Kibaale National Park to Semuliki National park

Early morning breakfast and drive to Semuliki National Park which will take us about two and half minutes from Kibaale Forest. Check into our lodge for lunch; get ready for an afternoon game drive with chances of sighting of lots of antelopes.

Day 11 Semuliki Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Morning breakfast, drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, with great views of Rwenzori Mountain, drive through Kasese town to Katara lodge for your lunch. Get ready for an evening boat ride on the Kazinga channel with chances of many bird’s species, hippos, elephants, crocodiles, leopards.

Day 12 Game drive in Queen Elizabeth.

We shall have a morning game drive in the park and see lots of animals such as Uganda kobs, lions, elephants, buffalos, and the warthogs, giant forest hogs. Evening relaxation at the lodge as you look at the flat plains of the park with chances of viewing elephants in the acacia tree plants.

Day 13 Lake Katwe salt mining area, Queen Elizabeth N.P to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

We shall have early morning breakfast and go to Lake Katwe Tourism Center for a traditional salt mining experience and a visit to Lake Munyanyange for great chance of viewing flamingos. Check out and continue to Bwindi through the Ishasha plains with chances of seeing the tree climbing lions on the way. Lunch at Savannah Resort Hotel, continue to Bwindi and check into Buhoma Community for an over night.

Day 14 Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi

We shall have early morning breakfast after which we report to the park headquarters for a vital briefing on gorilla tracking. You shall then your start gorilla tracking expedition whose duration shall depend on how fast you shall track a gorilla family.

You shall then return to the accommodation facility for relaxation and overnight.

Day 15 Bwindi Forest to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, we shall drive through Bwindi forest to the open hilly areas over looking Kabale town. Drive through the potato cultivations and along Lake Bunyonyi

Check into Overland Camp for lunch.

Relax at Lake Bunyonyi and over night at Over Land Camp.

Day 16 Full day on Lake Bunyonyi

After all the long days on dirt roads, we relax on Lake Bunyonyi, with optional canoeing, and village walks.

Day 17 Lake Bunyonyi to Lake Mburo National Park

We shall have early morning breakfast, drive to Lake Mburo National park, check into the park as you drive through the game trails with chances of zebras, elands, topis, waterbucks and later have our lunch at Mantana Lodge.

Day 18 Departure Day

We shall have a morning nature walk and then drive back to Entebbe for your evening flight at Entebbe International Airport. Or rest in boma guest house if your flight is early morning.

Notes

Travellers are supposed to reach Entebbe on the tour starting day before 8 am and leaving from the same airport at the end of the tour after 8 pm. If these times can’t be respected then 1 or 2 days should be calculated for the overnight in Kampala.
Children under 12 years of age are not allowed to see chimpanzees. Kibale NP offers small walks of 1 or 2 hours followed by creative activities.
Gorilla trekking is not allowed to anyone under 15 years of age.
