About the Lodge

Wilderness Sabyinyo is the oldest premier community owned eco-lodge in the region operated by the Governors Camp Collection and owned by a local community trust that reinvests profits into nearby villages close to Volcanoes National Park.

The lodge offers a classic colonial style design with stone structures and terraced gardens looking out toward the jagged peaks of Mount Sabyinyo and Mount Gahinga.

The guest rooms comprise six chalets two large suites and one family cottage all fitted with massive open fireplaces and enormous king size beds or twin bed arrangements that cater to families or solo travelers.

The rates at Wilderness Sabyinyo are highly competitive for the luxury tier starting around 1521 USD per person per night in the low season months and increasing to roughly 2235 USD per person per night during the peak summer and winter dry intervals. The cost covers all daily meals select alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and laundry services.

The geographic location of Wilderness Sabyinyo is excellent as it rests just three kilometers from the Kinigi park headquarters allowing guests to easily commute to the morning registration area in under ten minutes.

The lodge is also perfectly placed for travelers who want to hike to the Dian Fossey gravesite at Karisoke which begins at a trailhead situated roughly a twenty-five minute drive away.

Additionally, the nearby local marketplace of Musanze town is an easy twenty-five minute drive from the property while the vibrant cultural village of Gorilla Guardians is located just a fifteen minute drive down the hill making it simple to incorporate an authentic cultural dance experience into a safari itinerary.
