26 Days Uganda Adventure Safari – Gorilla Trekking & Culture Trip.

Primate Safaris has tailored the mega 26 Days Uganda Safari Adventure that includes the gorilla trekking, Chimpanzee Tracking, Wildlife Adventure & Birding without missing the true culture of Karamanjaro the northern part of Uganda located adjacent to Kidepo Valley  National Park.

 

Day 1. Shoebill Mabamba – transfer to Jinja

The guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala and then transfer to Mabamba ramsar. With a local person at this bay, you will board a canoe and then look for the shoebill. The activity will take about 2-4 hours. You will the drive back to Kampala where you will have your lunch and then proceed to Jinja. Check in at kingfisher lodge where you will have your dinner and spend the night.

Day 2. White water rafting

After your breakfast, you will get ready with your light clothes and then the guide will drive you to the rafting starting point. The activity will start at around 10 am where you will be grouped in different groups of a minimum of 4 people. You will be given helmets, life jackets and paddles. The activity will start will a brief training about the activity and then head to the first raft. The activity will take about 6 hours and you will go through 5 rafts. You will have a stopover along the way for lunch. At the end of the end of the activity, your guide will be there waiting for you and drive you back to the lodge. Dinner and overnight as above.

Day 3. Transfer to Mbale

You will have breakfast at the lodge, check out and then transfer to Mbale. You will have lunch in Mbale town and then proceed to sipi area where you will check in at Noahs ark hotel. Later in the evening, you will visit a local community where you learn about coffee processing right from the plantation to the end product. You will have a chance to have a taste. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 4. Hiking to Sipi falls

After breakfast at the hotel, you will hike to the sipi falls. The activity will take you around 5 hours or more and you will go through 3 steps. You will then return to the lodge where you will refresh and have lunch. You will relax the rest of the day. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5. Transfer to Pian upe game reserve – evening game drive

You will have breakfast at the lodge and then checkout. Drive to Pian upe game reserve which is about 3-4 hours. Lunch will be a Pian upe camp. You will do the evening game drive where you will expect to see animals like buffaloes, giraffes, lions, cheetahs, antelopes like bush buck, waterbucks, impalas, among others. Birds like ostriches, Jacksons hornbill, white headed buffalo weaver among others. Dinner and overnight at Pian upe camp.

Day 6. Morning game drive – visit the Pokot people

You will have an early breakfast at the camp and the go for a game drive. The activity will take around 4hours and you will expect to see buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, and various antelope’s species with in the reserve, ostriches among others. You will then return to the camp, refresh and have lunch. At around 3pm, you will visit the pokot people where you will learn about their great culture and life style. You can support the community by buying their local crafts or donate anything to them. Return to the lodge, have dinner and spend the night.

Day 7. Transfer to Moroto – visit the Manyata

After your breakfast at the camp, you will check out and transfer to Moroto which is about 4hours drive.  You will stay in the kraal where you will camp and get to share experiences with the Karimajong warriors. Dinner and overnight at the kraal.

Day 8. Manyata visit

After breakfast at the kraal, you will go to Manyata village where you will see the Karimajong dance, games, and learn more about the culture.  You will then drive to Moroto town where you will start the Moroto hike which will take you around 7 to 8hours with a stopover for lunch. The top of the mountain will offer you beautiful scenery of Moroto town and the highlands. You will camp at the top of the mountain where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 9. Transfer to Kidepo – visit the Ik people

After breakfast, you will descend back to Moroto town and then transfer to Kidepo valley national park. Stop over for lunch in Kaabong. Check in at Apoka bandas / camp. Later in the evening, you will do a game drive where you will expect to zebras, eland, cheetah, lions, buffaloes, kobs, waterbucks, ostriches, crocodiles, pangolin, rock hylx, beautiful view of the Kidepo plains among others. Return to the Bandas for dinner and overnight.

Day 10. Visit the Ik people.

After breakfast, you will drive to the starting point of the hike. You will then hike the Morungole Mountains to see the Ik people. These people also have a different culture that is interesting to know about. Drive back to the Bandas for dinner and overnight.

Day 11. Drive to the hotsprings along the Uganda, S.Sudan and Kenya border – after noon walking safari

You will do a morning game drive which will take you up to the hotsprings in the ostrich track. You will then return back for lunch and then relax. Then later on you may choose to take a walking safari with in the park. Dinner and overnight as above.

Day 12. Transfer to Murchison falls national park

You will have breakfast and then check out. You will then transfer to Murchison falls national park. Stopover for lunch will be in Gulu town (biggest town in the north). Check in at fort Murchison lodge where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 13. Morning game drive – boat cruise to the bottom of the falls

After and early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and drive to the park for the game drive where you will expect to see; hyenas, elephants, Jacksons hartebeests, lions, buffaloes, giraffes, kobs, African jackals, baboons, return back to the lodge refresh and have lunch. You will then go for the afternoon boat cruise on the Nile. It takes about 3 hours and you will expect to see; animals like hippos, elephants, crocodiles, buffaloes warthogs and various water bird species like African fish eagle, hammercop, kingfishers, African jacana, among others.  You will also see the Uhuru and the magnificent Murchison falls. Check in at Red Chili where you will have dinner and spend the night.

Day 14. Transfer to Kibale national park

Have breakfast and check out of red chill. Then drive to Kibale forest national park with a stopover for lunch in Kagadi town. Dinner and overnight at Kibale forest camp.

Day 15. Chimpanzee tracking – afternoon Bigodi walk

You will have breakfast at the camp and go to the starting point where you will find your park guide who will brief you about the activity. At 8am you will set out into the forest to look for the chimps. The activity will take you around 4hours or more. As you track the chimps you will spot other animals like monkeys, baboons and various bird species. After tracking, you will return to the lodge, refresh and have lunch. In the evening, you will take a walk to the Bigodi swamp where you will spot various bird species, monkeys. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 16. Transfer to Semuliki national park – walking safari

After breakfast at the lodge, you will transfer to Semuliki National Park. Do a walking safari to the hot springs. Dinner and overnight at Semuliki safari lodge.

Day 17. Batwa community visit – cocoa/vanilla visiting

You will take a walk through the forests to the Batwa communites who live around the park. They will demonstrate to you the way they used to live their life in the forest before the park was gazetted. You will later visit the Bamba communities who will show you how cocoa and vanilla is planted. If it’s the harvesting time, you will have a chance to taste a fresh cocoa fruit. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 18. Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park via Mt Rwenzori for a forest walk

After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park. When you reach Kasese you will branch off the main road to Mt. Rwenzori national park. You will do a forest walk in the tropical forests of the Rwenzori Mountains. You will expect to see animals like white and black colobus monkey, 3 horned chameleons, forest elephants, and some antelope species. You will then drive to Queen Elizabeth national park. Check in at buffalo safari lodge, have dinner and spend the night.

Day 19. Morning Game drive – afternoon boat cruise

Have an early morning coffee and then go for a game drive. The activity will take around 4-5 hours and you will expect to see animals like elephants, lions, warthogs, kobs, waterbucks, buffaloes among others. You will then drive to Mweya peninsula where you will have a clear view of the Kazinga channel with animals at the drinking point and the surrounding vegetation and landscape. You will have lunch at the restaurant in Mweya. At 2am you will do a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel which takes around 2hours. You will expect to see hippos, buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, monitor lizards, bushbucks, various water birds like the African fish eagle, African Jacana, pied kingfishers, cormorants, pelicans among others. You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 20. Transfer to Bwindi through Ishasha sector – game drive in Ishasha

After breakfast at the lodge, you will check out and transfer to the Ishasha sector of the park. You will do a game drive and expect to see tree climbing lions, elephants, buffaloes, and various antelope species. You will then proceed to Bwindi, check in at Gorilla Mist Camp where you will have your dinner and spend the night.

Day 21. Gorilla trekking – community walk

After breakfast, you will drive to the headquarters where your permits will be checked and you will be allowed to enter the park. The park guide will brief you shortly about the activity and then you will start the trek. The trek includes some little hiking and the activity will take you around 4hours or even more. When you find them, you spend 1hours with the gorillas to take photos and see how they go about with the day. You will return to the lodge and have lunch. In the late afternoon, you will take a forest walk to the Batwa communities that live around Bwindi. Return to the camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 22. Transfer to Mgahinga national park – afternoon walking safari

After breakfast, you will check out and transfer to Mgahinga national park. Check in at Travellers Rest, refresh and have lunch. You will do a walking safari through the forest that will lead you to some local communities of the Batwa people. Dinner and overnight at Travellers Rest.

Day 23. Golden monkeys – transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast, you will track golden monkeys this will take around 3 hours. You will return to the lodge, have lunch and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi overland.

Day 24. Kayaking at Lake Bunyonyi – hiking / sight seeing

After breakfast at the hotel, you will to the starting point of kayaking. You will kayak on Lake Bungonyi. Return to the hotel for lunch. Later in the afternoon you will hike some of the surrounding hill to have a beautiful view of the Kigezi landscape. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 25. Transfer to Lake Mburo national park

You will check out of the hotel after breakfast and then drive to Lake Mburo national park. There will be a stopover for lunch along the way. Dinner and overnight at Rwakobo Rock.

Day 26. Morning game drive/horse riding – afternoon boat cruise

After breakfast at the lodge, you will do a game drive or ride on a horse’s around the park. The activity will take about 4 hours. Return to the lodge for lunch. At 2 pm you will do a boat cruise on Lake Mburo where you will expect to see hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles and various water birds that stay with in the park. Dinner and overnight at lodge.

Day 27. Transfer to Entebbe

You will check out of the lodge after your breakfast. You will then drive back to Entebbe.
