18 Days Rwanda, Congo & Uganda Safari: Gorilla Trekking

Looking for a combined multi-country adventure to visit gorillas in Rwanda, Congo & Uganda and chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest in Uganda with Primate Safari Experiences. Book 18 Days adventure to visit primates in Rwanda, Dr congo & Uganda.

Day 1:  Kigali Airport arrival at 02:40 am, Covid Test, wait for results in the hotel.
Day 2:  Nyarubuye Genocide memorial. Akagera NP evening game drive. Lake Ihema afternoon boat cruise.
Day 3: Akagera NP morning game drive.
Day4: Nyanza palace & Museum, Murambi genocide museum … Nyungwe.
Day 5: Congo Nile Trail by our 4×4, on the shores of lake Kivu  & Transfer to Virunga Park.
Day6: First Gorilla trekking in Virunga
Day 7 : Second Gorilla Trekking in Virunga
Day 8: Transfer to Mgahinga NP via Bunagana.
Day 9: Golden Monkey tracking in Mgahinga NP  & Transfer to Bwindi
Day 10: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi & Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Day11: Ishasha game drive Searching for Tree climbing lions
Day 12: Transfer to Kibale Forest for afternoon Chimpanzee tracking
Day 13: Transfer to Murchison falls game drive, top of the falls, for sunset.
Day 14: Murchison falls game drive & afternoon boat cruise.
Day 15: Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary (walk with the Rhinos) & transfer to Kampala.
Day 16: Transfer to Jinja for Kayak tandem Grade 5
Day 17:  Kampala city tour.
Day 18: Transfer to the Airport.

Rwanda Congo Uganda Safari ; Gorilla Safaris & Wildlife Tour.

Day 1:  Arrival at Kigali International Airport. You will take a COVID 19 test before transfer to your hotel of stay. Overnight at Five to five Hotel Kigali.

Day 2: You will receive your COVID Results and visit Nyarubuye Genocide memorial. This will be on your way to Akagera National Park. If time permits, you may take an evening game drive OR a boat cruise on Lake Ihema. Dinner and Overnight stay at Ruzizi Tented Camp.

Day 3: Akagera National Park: You will do a morning game drive / Boat Cruise on the Lake Ihema as you proceed to Nyungwe National Park.  Overnight stay at Nyungwe Hilltop View  Lodge

Day 4: Visit Nyanza palace & Museum, Murambi genocide museum among others. You may also visit Kitabi tea plantations. This plantation seats on over 700 hectares land. Dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 5: You will have breakfast and visit the Congo Nile Trail. This trail begins from the Northern shores of Lake Kivu (Gisenyi) and it is one of the best biking trails existing in Rwanda.You arrive at Goma, go through customs as you proceed to Kibumba Tented Camp for Dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Virunga National Park.

After breakfast you will walk to Virunga National Park’s headquarters for orientation where you will be briefed about the Dos and Don’ts when interacting with the Gorillas. After you will enter into the jungle to search for the primates in the wild. This may take around 3-4 hours and upon and only 8 people are allowed to track a group in an hour. When you meet them, keep a short distance from them and take photos with cameras that don’t have flashes. You may also spot other primates like the Colobus monkeys, golden monkeys, vervet monkeys, L’hoest monkeys as well as different bird species. You will then return for dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 7: Second Gorilla trekking:

You will have breakfast and continue to the park headquarters for your second gorilla trekking activity. Dinner and overnight stay as above.

Day 8: After your breakfast, you will cross to Uganda via the Bunagana Border to Mgahinga National Park. This park is also found at the foot hills of the Virunga Volcanoes. Three volcanoes make up the part of the Virunga ranges and these include Mountain Muhavura, mountain Gahinga and mountain Sabinyo. Mountain Gorillas and Wildlife is also found in this National park and they  include Guereza colobus and golden (blue) monkey, Caruther’s mountain, Boehm’s and Rwenzori sun squirrels, buffaloes, Bushbuck, Elephants, Serval cat, among others. You will have lunch enrote. Dinner and overnight will be at travellers rest Kisoro.

Day 9: Golden Monkey Tracking

On this day after breakfast you will go for the Golden Monkey tracking. Your guide from the park will take you through thick vegetation on a 1-5 hour trail.  You finally will meet the golden monkeys, spend one hour with them and then return back to the Lodge for Lunch, dinner and overnight stay.

 

Day 10: Gorilla Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

An early morning breakfast, go for a briefing at the park headquarters, in accompaniment of guides and rangers, you enter the forest to begin the Gorilla tracking activity which takes 2-10 hours depending on the movements of these gorillas.  Other animals and birds might be spotted too and these include the l’Hoest’s monkey, African elephant, birds like the African green broadbill, Grauer’s rush warbler, Chaplin’s flycatcher, African giant swallowtail among others. After tracking, you will continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at Ishasha Jungle Lodge.

Day 11: On this day, you will have breakfast and go for a morning game drive in search for the tree climbing lions of Ishasha sector. You will finish the game drive in time for lunch. You will then go for a boat cruise on the Kazinga channel. Dinner and overnight stay will be as above.

Day 12: You will get an early breakfast and proceed to Kibale National Park for Chimpanzee trekking. If time permits, you will make an afternoon visit to Bigodi Wetland. Dinner and overnight stay at Isunga Lodge.

 

Day 13: After your breakfast, you will head to Murchison falls National Park. This journey will take you 6-7 hrs including lunch. You will reach in time to relax for the evening. Lunch will be enroute, Dinner and overnight stay at Murchison River Lodge.

Day 14: Breakfast, go for a game drive, and return for lunch. In the afternoon get on a boat to the bottom of the falls. You might also spot crocodiles, Hippos, elephants and many others. You can hike to the top of the falls. Various birds might be spotted too, like the hornbills, bee-eaters, kingfishers and storks, Egyptian plover, Chestnut crowned sparrow weaver, Rock pranticole, Red winged grey warbler, Pulvus illadopsis among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge as above.

Day 15: Have breakfast, and drive to Kampala, the capital city of Uganda.  You will have a stop over at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and will participate in Rhino tracking and also have lunch.  Dinner and overnight stay at Grand Imperial Hotel.

Day 16: Breakfast, drive to Jinja and spend a full day doing any of the optional activities. These include white water rafting, Bungee jumping, squad biking, horse riding, visiting the source of the Nile and much more. Lunch will be in Jinja town. Later return back to Kampala. Dinner and overnight at the hotel

 

Day 17: Kampala City tour: Breakfast, visit the places of interest in Kampala like the Kasubi Tombs, Uganda Martyrs shrine Namugongo, the Bahai Temple (the only one of its kind in Africa), Uganda Museum, Snake park Kajjansi have lunch, later drive to Entebbe town for dinner and overnight at the hotel. You will also do a COVID 19 PCR TEST in preparation for an international flight back home.

Day 18: Departure.
